Bug Zapper for the WIN

Living in Northern Ontario, mosquito and black fly season are brutal to withstand. Both come out in droves thirsty for blood .. which tends to only be mine (even when I’m surrounding by others). Somehow, they were coming in my trailer with an attached addition by the hundreds even tho all crevices, joints were well filled with spry foam and ins. On the morning after using this zapper, it had a fairly decent sized mound of dead mosquitoes below it i and the fluorescent coils were also teeming with them. Cleaning the coils off is as simple as using a blow dryer or blower to blow themoff. I would highly recommend this model.

We bought this a couple of weeks ago and as of now, it has done nothing to reduce the mosquitoes and black flies in our yard. The only thing it attracts are moths. It’s a waste of money.

  • A: The cord on the one I just bought June 2022 is 15", so you will likely need a two prong extension to reach a power source as this zapper needs to hang up in the air.

Q: Can this unit safely be used indoors?

  • A: I wouldn't recommend it. It has a pheromone attractor capsule (which you can always not put!) that draws the mosquitoes to it. a) you don't want to attract them in your house; b) not sure if its healthy. In fact, you are supposed to put it away (far) from the house. Not an indoor solution.

  • A: I have owned 2 of these for over a year now. They seem quite capable of frying mosquitoes and black flies. Not sure if the June bugs are attracted to them or not. But it did get one. So I guess you can say yes. But if the bugs are too big they can't get into it.
