Nice Kayak

Looks good and it floats. Used it on our vacation at Lake Huron. Handles are nice. Storage compartments are shallow, so don't expect to stow a lot in them. Don't forget the boat safety items that are required by law, even if it is just a kayak (bailer, working flashlight, rope, noise device), because it can be costly if the law catches you.

I got this kayak on sale a month ago, I ordered it and picked it up from my nearest location and my first initial look at it i noticed that it was a little scuffed up and sun faded, it wasn’t until i got home and i saw that once i took a closer look at it that there were two holes drilled perfectly on the underside of it. I thought nothing of it, I did a tiny bit of digging online and just thought they were scupper holes. But sit-in kayaks aren’t supposed to have these holes. I went out on the water for a bit and noticed that i was collecting a lot of water over time, and this was happening constantly. I noticed that these holes were drilled exactly where the holes for the seat clips were drilled, almost like somebody went way too far with a drill bit and punctured the bottom. I’ve since swapped out the kayak at a different location and i’ve had zero issues, and i’ve used it a bit since i’ve swapped it. It’s very comfortable and stable, i’ve purposely flipped myself over in it to test out how it reacts in a worst case scenario, you might not be able to get back in if you flip it but you can easily push it back to shore because it stays afloat even with severe excess water. If the price is right, especially since it goes on sale frequently, this is perfect starter fishing kayak.

Q: the back and front hatch are very shallow and not very useful for storage, are they meant to be cut out? The covers seem water tight, so im assuming the inside shallow bin came that way from the plant and dont need to be there?

- A: They are meant for storage. Definitely not to be cut out. Yes they are shallow but you could put phone in there or your lunch/shoes/small towel/tackle. Deeper storage would be more helpful But some way to have dry storage is handy even though small. This is a very stable kayak. You could put a dry bag under the front also.4 years agoHelpful?
