LeakSeal® Roof and Foundation Coating is a non-fibered asphalt emulsion that can be either spray or roller applied as a high quality primer and thin base coat for use after curing with LeakSeal roof coatings, or as a damp proofer on vertical surfaces to protect against moisture penetration in roofing or building applications. This product is used to fill pores and protect against moisture penetration when sprayed or rolled-on.

I sat this out in the sun to warm as past experience taught me to make it a bit thinner. That wasn't necessary and it ended up a bit runny, though it also made it easier to stir it up. It was easy to apply with a wide putty knife and clean up with just a paper towel wasn't bad as long as I didn't wait too long. I patched up a shed roof that had some torn shingles and it worked very well, flowing into the thin areas and sealing some seams and cracks. I'm not so sure I would want this warmed up if I was going to do something verticle, in that case, cold would be better I think.

Q: Can this be used on interior basement walls and is there an odour ?

A: I have used this product twice in our local Church basement (interior basement walls). The product has done an excellent job at keeping water out. There is a VERY STRONG odour associated with this product (oily petroleum smell) which improves over time. I will always go back to this product as it's sealing properties are worth the smell. There is also a milder residual smell that remains. Scott

A: Hi, Great question! We do not recommend this product for asphalt shingles. Depending on your needs, we recommend instead our LeakSeal Clear Roof Patch, LeakSeal Ultimate Roof Patch or the LeakSeal Roof Repair All Season.

A: Hi, Great question! Our Rust-Oleum LeakSeal Waterproof Roof & Foundation Coating was designed to protect and seal roofs and foundation walls. We have not specifically tested it on tin. We recommend testing it on a small area first.
