Barrier bags work as advertised. The powder inside the bags absorbs the water and expands. Bags do freeze but thaw slowly. Good product

No fillers needed like sand. These light weight bags will absorb leaking water. My problem is with the snow melt & the ground is frozen so water seaps through a corner in my basement.
