A: Technically yes it can be mounted in any way but it is meant to be upright that way the sediment styles at bottom. Any other orientation may not be best

A: We ran the hot water through it just before it went into our washing machine and it seemed to work without any problem in our previous home. I think the recommendation is to put it through your cold water line though.

Q: Leaking Model I have one and it's leaking rapidly. We have changed cartridge, & gasket according to directions. The sump is not cracked. Can you offer any insight as to cause?

A: Hi. It is possible that some debris may have lodged between the head seal and the groove. Turn the water off, release pressure and remove the head seal with a blunt tool (such as a butter knife). Wipe the head seal with a wet paper towel and wipe the seal groove (on the head) as well making sure that both are clean. Replace sump and turn water on. If the leak doesnt stop, please turn water OFF immediately and call Rainfresh technical support.

A: Hi there, Rainfresh FC005 (62-1025) is a filter housing that can be used either on the main water line with a sediment filter cartridge or can be installed undersink with a carbon filter cartridge. The flow rate of the unit is determined by the type of cartridge you use. For a main line application with a 62-1037 (5 micron) sediment filter cartridge, the rated flow is 7.5 US GPM @ 60 psi inlet dynamic pressure. This would suit most homes with up to 3.5 bathrooms. On the other hand if you use the FC005 housing under the sink, the flow rate will typically be 0.75GPM to 1 GPM depending on the grade of carbon filter cartridge used. Hope that answers your question

Q: what is the difference between this filter and... This one is listed at 27.99 and the other Rainfresh Whole House Water Filter Product #62-1023-2 is listed at 49.99. What is the difference between the two? Is one better than the other? Thanks

A: Rainfresh FC005 (62-1025), is a standard filter housing only. You will need to buy an appropriate filter cartridge separately to complete the system. Rainfresh 62-1023 is a complete system including a 30 micron filter cartridge and a solderless connector kit to connect to 3/4" or 1/2" copper pipe. 62-1023 also features a built-in ON/OFF/BYPASS valve that makes filter cartridge replacement very easy. Simply turn the valve at the top of the filter and the water is automatically shut-off and the pressure is vented, making cartridge replacement a breeze. Performance wise both are exactly the same as long as the same model cartridge is used in both. Hope that answers your question.

Q: why do we not stock the installation kit for Rainfresh water systems ie CK1 or CK3.

A: We stock a complete kit (62-1023-2) that includes the solder-less connector kit model CK2. If a separate installation kit for CK1 or CK3 is required the store would have to special order it for you.
