Although the part numbers match the OEM, this belt is too wider & too short. After installing it, the belt began smoking & delaminating. Unfortunately it is now damaged & cannot be returned.

A: For my Craftsman snowblower, I measured the belt with a tape measure. This size belt 5/8 x 38 inch was difficult to find online. Most belts are 1/2 inch and many much smaller.

Q: Craftsman Snow blower model No. 944.528392. This belt is a 408007, but is slightly thicker than the original OEM belt. Hence, you have to loosen your belt guide so that it applies the same pressure as original but should not touch the belt when augers on.

A: Yes, and make sure the belt pulleys are all aligned or else they can prevent the augers from stopping when released, and burn the belt.
