Blown away!

I waited 3 months to review this blower to give a more honest evaluation. I'v never understood EGO's reference to snow clearing based on a number of cars. What I can tell you is that my drive is 2 cars wide and 150' long, plus a 25" X 25' apron, and a 25' walkway. So far this winter I'v used this blower about 10 times with varying amounts of snow (I live in upper Michigan with a lot of snow). Only once did I drain the batteries and that was because I had to go over part off the drive twice. Most of the time I still had 2 to 3 bars showing on the batteries, which means 30-50% power remaining. On a couple of light occasions I actually had 4 bars showing, which is about 70% remaining. Wow! There are a lot of safety features built in, such as shutting down to prevent overloading (you can start it right back up - just go slower, or increase the auger speed). This blower is lighter than my 30" Husqvarna, so it's a lot easier to maneuver. (I'm 81 so every little bit helps). So far I'm very impressed with the performance (with a couple of caveats). First, I don't believe it will throw snow 60 feet. It may be possible with the right conditions of snow, wind, auger speed, and ground speed, but I didn't experience that. I found a more realistic value of 35-50 feet, but I usually run the auger at 1/2 to 3/4 speed, and that is all I generally need. The other minor issue is noise. It's quieter than my gas blower, but is still quite loud (sounds like a jet engine). I also wish it came with drift cutter bars because I needed them a couple of times on the berms. There is one other minor operational issue. You have to keep your left hand on the controls all the time. When you need to change ground speed, or reverse, you have to use your right hand and several times my arm has hit the auger speed control and increased the speed. If you don't notice this, you will be using more power and drain the batteries faster. Over all I'm impressed with the build quality and would recommend buying this blower - especially if you have other EGO tools. I'm actually considering buying their zero turn mower and going 100% electric. Just not having to change oil, use gas, change belts, and adjust cables is motivation enough for me. Hope this helps!

Warranties after 6 weeks

It worked great for a few weeks but then the tire on the right started slipping and clicking. It's already in the repair shop after owning it for only 6 weeks. I bought a battery machine so I'd have less maintenence. 😞

Review of POWER+ 28 in. snowblower

EGO asked me to rate the 24-inch blower, but I actually purchased the 28-inch. The tool came 2 days before we were hit with a 16-inch snowfall. The snow was light and fluffy and the tool cleared it well, hence my overall rating of very good. The next snowfall delivered 12 inches of wet heavy snow. The snow chute threw this heavier snow without a problem, and the chute adjustments made it easy to throw it precisely where I wanted. However, I was not happy with the performance of the self-propel in the wet heavy snow. The tires did not grip well and spun often, requiring lots of wrestling to get unstuck. There was also a bit of muscle memory relearning to do because the throttle and chute levers are on opposite handles from the gas snowblowers I've had in the past. I didn't use the hand warmer feature on the handles because I didn't want to waste battery power on that feature.

Power Beyond Belief: Exceeds My Old Gas Blower

I recently upgraded to the EGO Power+ 28" 2-Stage Snow Blower (SNT2807) and I am absolutely amazed by its performance. Living on a lot, with a very long driveway I often deal with heavy, 4-foot frozen berms left by street plows, and this machine just 'eats it up' without any trouble. The power is comparable to—if not better than—my old gas-powered two-stage blower, but without the noise, maintenance, or gas fumes. One of my favorite features is the heated handle grips, which actually kept my hands warm even in sub-zero temperatures. The trigger-controlled steering and 2-in-1 electronic chute adjustment make maneuvering this 180+ lb machine surprisingly easy, allowing for effortless 200-degree rotation of the snow stream. I was able to clear my entire driveway as well as my neighbors' driveway on a single charge with the 12.0Ah ARC Lithium batteries, still having power to spare. It's a high-end, reliable machine that turns a dreaded winter chore into a quick and even enjoyable task."
