Q: Can this fixture be used in a covered outside spot?  Needed for front door but inside covered porch..

  • A: I have this fixture installed on our front porch, it is a dry location but obviously exposed to the outdoor temperatures. The light has been working for two Alberta winters and works flawlessly regardless of temperature. I realize the rating is for indoor but if installed in a dry area with a roof over the porch, this LED light is awesome!

Q: How hot does it get? (The back mounting plate?)

  • A: I wired up this light; after just a few minutes, the back of the light is almost too hot to hold your hand on for more than a few seconds. 60 watt incandescent bulbs get hotter than that, so this likely won't be an issue? I don't know if it is normal, indicates an issue, or ??? LED's themselves don't generate a lot of heat, but the electronics in the light can. For the light I bought and wires up, they do.
