    Smelly but effective

    The protectant does its job well! You will need more than you think though as this is a very thin stain yet it needs to be to penetrate the wood. Wear gloves and use outdoors due to the odor too.

    Preservative not stain

    Very easy to apply to raw wood. It's not a stain, it's a tinted preservative made w zinc napthenate. The colour slowly fades over the years but does not peel. Your wood is protected even after the colour is gone because of its excellent penetrating quality. I use only this, because nothing else is worth the money. There are a couple of cons though; it's like water so splashes onto siding or brick very easily and it's a bit smelly at first & then later only after a rain.

    • A: We only tried the brown color and are very pleased It didn't peel like stain over the winter. It does fade abit during the sumer, so we'll do another coat in the fall.
