Too much goes wrong with this heater

Problem 1: The anti-tip/tip over safety feature failed and left the this heater useless. The failed part left the heater useless. I had it looked at by an electrician only to find out it was just a lever-like part that lost its original shape and was no longer triggering as it was supposed too. Got it fixed only to have.... Problem 2: ...The control board fail. No power when plugged in. I've had multiple issues during daily usage. But, I took it on the chin because it was somewhat working, when it did work. Not worth the headache. Save yourself the stress. Stay away from this heater.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I highly do not recommend this heater

I own this product and have for about five years. It's... to be diplomatic, not great. The temperature required to turn the heater ON is too cold; the heater then heats until the room is *too warm*. So you'll never have a consistently well heated room: only one that cycles between too warm, too cold. Further, in five years of use, I've still never worked out how the user interface works.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Will this auto shut off? i want to leave it running full time without it auto shutting off.

  • A: I've had this unit for a few years now. Works PERFECT for my needs, heating up a back room that then heats up my whole little house. It WILL shut off....but that depends how high the setting & how cold it is outside. It can't keep up when it's like, 10° F out, but between 30-50°F, I set it for 66-68 and it controls perfectly. The colder it is, the lower I set the temp. For like 10° F or less, I'll set it for around 60 or so.... it just can't keep up at that cold level ,....and I don't want it on 24/7. It then becomes supplemental to my forced air furnace. So, yes.... it will shut on & off...going about 2° above setting, then coming on again @ 2° below. Works perfect for me..... when I leave the house, I'll keep the furnace lower, like around 62 and set this around 59 or so, just to keep things from freezing on the basement stairs. You can even relocated while operating without getting burned. Works great, and remember , hot air rises, so on the basement stairs it's perfect.

Q: My circuit breaker tends to trip when using these heaters at the full 1500w. How many watts does the low setting use?

3 Answers
  • A: It MUST be on a stand alone circuit. It's 1500w on full/750 on 1/2. You should NOT have anything else on the same circuit. I keep mine on my backstairs, and when I run the washing machine, need to shut this off. The amp draw is wattage ÷ voltage = 1500 ÷ 120 = 12.5 Amps draw. Your breaker is most likely 15 amps,, so there's something else on that circuits as well. You COULD run this and perhaps a low wattage light or something, but anything else will trip the breaker.

Q: When we set the temp to a specific temp, like 20 for example, it heats up to 20, turns off, and then only turns back on once it’s below 3+ degrees lower in ambient temp.  Is this normal?

3 Answers
  • A: personally I would change the celcius to fahrenheit, this way when the ambient temp is 3 degree below the target it would only be 1.6 Celcius for the heater to be turn on. Just press and hold the circle button to change the unit, and fyi 68F(20C) and every F=0.56C. This is my solution.

Q: Is it safe to leave these heaters unattended and/or in operation overnight? Our heater is plugged directly into an outlet. We just wanted to be certain that there is no overheating or fire risk with continuous usage.

  • A: Yes it is safe. Mine is on for the fall through spring seasons. If there is a power outage you have to reset it.

Q: Why do the comments say it is quiet? It doesn't have a fan, does it?

  • A: No it doesn't. It has a heating element inside and the air emanates out once been heated, just like radiator.

Q: Noma 043-5116-4 Baseboard heater, why does the ambient temperature have to drop by 3 degrees before the heater comes back on.

2 Answers
  • A: If you can, press and hold the circle button to change unit from Celcius to fahrenheit, since a drop in 3F is only 1.6C. sidenote, 68F=20C and each F=0.56C. A drop in 3F is far less noticeable than 3C, and this has solved my problem, hope this helps.
