    Getting into Solar Energy

Easy to connect wiring but panel is somewhat designed for ground level and I'll have to improvise a bit to mount on a wall. The charging unit made the difference in deciding to purchase this Brand. I noticed the frame around isn't perfect but isn't a concern. Directions for setup and testing is easy to follow.

Q: Can this be used to run my camps lights and plug-ins?

    • A: On my camper it keeps the battery charged.  Our lighting system, fans and the water pump run off the battery but the 120v outlets do not.  I’ve had success with this panel keeping the battery charged for a week long camping trip on non electric sites.  I usually bring a couple of usb battery packs so we can use those to keep our phones and devices charged as the plug ins only work when we plug the trailer in to ground power.

Q: Is this only for big batteries on rv or can I use to charge phones and tablets

    3 Answers
    • A: You only charge big 12V batteries with this, you can't charge phones and tablets. You need to have an inverter to connect to the battery to make the power available for appliances. You can find inverters on here. Also portable phone chargers are a good solution depending on how long you need the charge to last.

Q: what do I need to charge two 12 volt batteries connected to make 24 volts?

    3 Answers
    • A: If you connect two 12v solar panels in series, the voltage of the series would be 24 volts but the amps remain the same. If you wired the same two panels in parallel, the voltage of the system would remain at 12 volts, but the amperage would double. Some controllers have a max amp input to protect 12 v batteries from overcharging. Also, you connect your solar panels in series to meet the operating voltage window requirements of your inverter if you are using one.

Q: I want to charge my jackery 240 with this but it doesn't have an input for it. Would any cable I order work?

    2 Answers
    • A: Jackery has a very specific type plug-n play. You would have to cut the wires and do some crimping yourself but it is possible. Technically, it's just wires you'd have to find which is your positive and negative. If you're not comfortable with a voltmeter or no electric electricity, I wouldn't suggest it.

Q: Does this work with lithium batteries, or does it need a different charge controller?

    2 Answers
    • A: No. You need a different controller for LiFePO4 batteries. Portable power backups like the Jackery have a built-in CC so you can connect straight from the panel.
