Worked Only Once.

Purchased in May, 2026. Charged a new LiFePO4 battery. I haven’t got it to work since. The mode button does not respond. Tried connecting different batteries. I changed the fuse. All it does is blink all LEDs. I have 2 other NOCO products that work great. I won’t buy another Genius 1.

Nice device, but committing

I have had a few NOCO products and like this one they are generally very high quality. I like the fact that it has an AGM setting since I am using it on my dual-purpose bike which has a an AGM battery. The only disadvantage to this brand is that they don't use SAE standard connectors, which are the most common. I had to either buy an adapter to connect to my existing wiring, or buy their fairly pricey connector and rewire the outlet.

Seems to work ok, but i didn't realize the connection is not a standard SAE two wire connection, so it's not compatible with all my other charger alligator clamps. Also, with the unit plugging directly into an outlet, it takes up space and a lot less handy than one that has a cord that plugs in.

Q: How to get to "Desulfator mode" or is this always on during charging?

  • A: The GENIUS1 desulfates during both the 12V and 6V charging modes. It is one of the first few steps in the charging process. If the charger detects sulfation in the battery, it will automatically start desulfating during the charge; there is nothing that you need to do to activate it. The 12V Repair Mode that the larger models (like the GENIUS5 and GENIUS10) have is a separate, additional, selectable mode dedicated to recovering heavily sulfated, stratified, old, damaged, and/or idle 12V batteries.

Q: Is it safe to charge within a garage?

  • A: Yes, the GENIUS1 can be used to charge a battery in a garage, provided the area is well ventilated. Batteries can release flammable gases while charging and can also generate heat, so proper ventilation is important to prevent gas buildup and help dissipate excess heat. We recommend keeping the battery and charger in a well-ventilated area and following the battery manufacturer's charging recommendations. If your garage is adequately ventilated, charging there should be fine.

Q: I am storing a car for the winter. I do not want to remove the battery terminals for fear that it will throw of the computer which basically operates the car. Can I just attach it to to the battery terminals while they are attached to the battery posts?

  • A: Yes, it you accidentally connect to your battery in reverse, you will get a fault indicator and no power will be transmitted.
