    Questions

    1 - 7 of 7 Questions

Q: Will this work with a lithium iron secondary battery?

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes. Just note that an isolator does not control current flow to both batteries, it only separates the flow. There is great potential for over and under charging especially with a lithium battery.

Q: It says it's ideal for snow plows and that it can't be used below 0°C. Which is it?

    1 Answer
    • A: Hello The units can operate below that, there are just no testing standards to rate the unit below 0C. Thank you,

Q: Does this isolator require an alternator? I have a stationary 35ft trailer, I use a generator through the inverter/charger to charge one battery. I would like to add and isolate another battery. Also, are fuses required? Thanks

    1 Answer
    • A: The isolator does not specifically need an alternator. An alternative type of charging can be used like your generator and inverter/charger. A fuse is not required, but is recommended

Q: Is a 120 amp isolator good enough for my 1994 dodge ram Roadtrek I have to replace the 3 stud isolator on my roadtrek camper. It was rated at 130 amps. I am not sure of the output of the alternator. What will happen if I just go ahead with a 120 amp isolator? Thanks

    1 Answer
    • A: This vehicle can come equipped with a 90A or 120A - yours likely came with the 120A because of the extra accessories on the Roadtrek. In any case, this 120A isolator is a suitable replacement to your current one.

Q: This isolator does not have an exciter terminal. Can it still be installed on Toyota alternators with internal regulators?

    1 Answer
    • A: No, most vehicles with internal regulation will require a 4-terminal isolator. Canadian Tire can special order such a product for you. For example, NOCO USA makes a 90A version (#IGD90HP) and a 140A version (#IG140HP). Contact your local Canadian Tire store to get a price and availability check on these products.
