Welding Metal Slag Ball Damaged Main Ram Seal QC

Failed after a few uses. Disassembled it and found that the main ram seal had a spall piece of metal welding slag wedged and deforming it. The metal welding slag damaged the hydraulic cylinder wall as well. The result of these factory quality control issue, the jack would go up and down in harmony with pumping. It would go up but would immediately start dropping down again. It would not support any load. The floor jack is discontinued. No parts available. It looks amazingly new and unused, shiny. Does not work. Factory QC failure

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not a bad jack, but the rubber on the handles is useless.

I had this jack for a couple of years, and it works well. It certainly lifts the vehicles better than other jacks, and in spite of having a relatively small lifting surface, it gets the job done. I can even jack up the front end of my small S/10 truck high enough to place ramps under the tires, eliminating the issues of the ramps sliding around.

    Poor handle design

This jack worked fairly well for the first year however one the hydraulic pistons kept seizing. Then the small 8mm bolt securing the handle stripped and fell out on its own. Had to Heli-Coil the threads, new bolt and Red Loctite. It failed again after another year. Useless jack if you can't even pull it around the shop.

Low profile is great, extremely sensitive release

I appreciate how quickly this jack goes up. I can also lift up my 2002 Golf and 2001 BMW 325i from the center lift point without first driving up on 2x4’s. I only have one negative, but it is significant. When lowering the car the release valve is extremely sensitive. I can only get the car to come down smoothly about 1/5 times. Usually it drops like a tank and I don’t like that when the frame falls onto jack stands. I have had a few others try as well and it scares them also. Not sure if it’s a defect with mine or if they are all like this.

Q: is this jack warped if 3 of the 4 wheels roll when moving it around? got this jack 2 weeks ago and used it for the first time today and I noticed only 3 of the 4 wheels on the jack roll when moving it around. Its one of the front wheels next to saddle and its being moved on a flat surface. Is this a defective unit?

    • A: Please return it to your local Canadian Tire store, with a copy of the purchase receipt, for an exchange.

Q: Is this jack safe to lift a vehicle that has 2.02 t curb weight? I need to buy o low profile high lift jack to work on my car and toyota venza v6 awd limited which has a curb weight of 1835 km / 4045 lbs (2.02 tonnes). Would this jack be safe to use for a vehicle with 2.02 t curb weight?

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes, it is safe to use this jack to lift your vehicle with the curb weight of 4045lbs. The lift capacity of the jack is 4000lbs which means the lift arm can push 4000lbs of dead weight placed on its saddle safely. When a vehicle is lifted with such floor jack, at least two wheels of the vehicle remain in contact with the ground so the net weight on the arm of the floor jack will never be equal to the curb weight of the vehicle. For you safety, please use axle stands (in pairs) and wheel chocks when lifting a vehicle.
