Q: How long should initial charge be on 2a trickle charger
6 years agoA: After allowing the battery to stand for an hour (to allow the acid to permeate the battery plates), it will at about 75-80% charged. Your 2A charge rate is a bit high for an 18Ah battery. Charge the battery for 2-3 hours, let it rest off charge for 2 hours, then take a voltage reading. A reading of 12.8V indicates the battery is fully charged. If below 12.8V, charge for another hour, let the battery rest for two hours and take another reading. Continue this until the battery reads 12.8V or higher.
