Q: On the side of the Motomaster DEF fluid container, (3.78 liter) is stamped a code or series of numbers. What is the formula of this number to reach the manufacture date of the product.

A: How to read code: the letter indicates Plant of Manufacture. Next will be the year (last two digits of the year), then the numerical day of the year (1-365), and then the line number produced on.

A: AUS 32 is a European Designation. It is standardised as AUS 32 (aqueous urea solution) in ISO 22241. DEF is a consumable in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) that lowers NOx concentration in the diesel exhaust emissions from diesel engines. The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) registered the trademark AdBluefor AUS 32. DEF is Diesel Exhaust fluid. In Europe they call it AUS 32, Adblue etc… In Canada/North America we have DEF which is approved by API. There is only one formula used in the world for DEF. We cannot say in NA this is AUS 32 as we do not use the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) registered trademark. We use the API registered trademark for DEF.
