    Questions

    1 - 8 of 8 Questions

Q: My last question asked about constant beeping after the test. The response was there won’t be any beeping after the testing is completed. Well it beeps constantly after each battery that's tested. Is this a defective unit that needs to be replaced?

    • A: Intermittent beeping until clamps are disconnected is normal operation for this tester.

Q: Where can one get the manual for 11-3009-8 Motomaster Digital Battery Tester, 125-Amp Load, 12V? It would be awesome if one could get the manual right on the Canadian Tire Website. If this is currently possible, it would be nice to know how.

    1 Answer

Q: Can it be used to test smaller 12v batteries such as in atvs, snowmobiles with Cold cranking amps lower than 300.

    1 Answer
    • A: No it cannot. The “smallest” battery it should be used on is 300 CCA. Please consider MotoMaster Eliminator Battery Tester 011-3008. It is suitable for use on batteries rated from 100 to 1200 CCA.

Q: Your write up says for 6v &12v batteries but manual says 12v only . Want to check my golf cart 6v batteries on my motor homes solar system.

    1 Answer
    • A: Hello. The Features write up should not have included 6V batteries - our sincerest apologies for that error and we will get it corrected ASAP. You could consider the analog version of this tester - model 011-3003 - which is compatible with both 6V and 12V batteries. Note, however, that typical battery testers are really intended for "starting" capability of SLI (Starting, Lighting and Ignition) batteries. They can be used on deep cycle batteries but only for their "starting" performance and other basic health indicators (e.g. voltage) - they cannot test the capacity of a deep cycle battery. (Such testers that can measure/test the capacity of a battery are still a relatively expensive technology ($1000 +). You can perform your own deep cycle battery test by fully charging the battery, applying a specific discharge, and then comparing the results to the original specification. For example, if you have a 12V deep cycle battery rated at 80 Ah (20 hour rate), it means that it can be discharged at 4 amps for 20 hours (80 Ah / 20 hours) before the battery only drops to around 10.5 V under load. The general rule is that if/when your deep cycle battery degrades to 50% of its original specifications (in our example, it can operate at 4 amps for only 10 hours before reaching 10.5 V), is definitely time to replace the battery. In more critical applications, it is common to replace a deep cycle battery when its capacity degrades to 70-80% of its original specifications.

    Translate with Google
    1 Answer

Q: Can this be used to test AGM batteries?

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes, it can be used to test 12V AGM batteries. Like all battery testers, it can test for starting capability. It cannot test for cycling capacity.
