You barely get what you pay for when on sale.

Where should I start... This is very cheaply made. Pitiful duty cycle. 8 AWG aluminum cables not suitable for 200A starting if you are boosting over the ridiculous 5 second rating. I believe it needs to be a minimum of 2 AWG copper at that length (2 x 6'). Appears to be a cheap aluminum wound transformer not copper. Two it uses two diodes to rectify voltage, proper chargers/boosters use two diode plates each usually containing 8-12 50A rated diodes which are actually serviceable (meaning you can change them easily). Maybe my charger/booster is defective, but the measured 12V output is not anywhere near 12.6VDC. At 2A setting approx 8VDC, 10A setting around 9VDC at 40A around 11VDC. I verified with two separate fluke meters because I couldn't believe it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the minimum charge voltage for a 12V battery be anywhere from 12.7-15 VDC? How is it supposed to charge my battery to full capacity if the output voltage is less than that of a dead battery? The 200A setting seems ok and was measured around 15VDC. Finally, this really annoys me especially when Canadian tire says "tested for life in Canada" on the box/website, the wheels are cheaper than what you would find on a toy. The wheels are hollow and so thin that they crumple easily under the slightest pressure . How cheap is too cheap they can't even put somewhat decent cheap plastic wheels on this thing? The case, switches, timer, ammeter and clamps seem quite decent as does the cooling fan that being said I will be returning I will be willing to pay for a more premium model if Canadian tire offered it.

    Excelent unit

Bought this unit recently to use in our -35 degree weather. 200amp boost was the reason for purchasing it, and YES it came through when needed effortlessly on multiple occasions. For the average person this is a must have. I found a couple problems with this unit 1) As stated before by someone else wheels are to small and plastic 2) power cord and the cables are made of cheap rubber, they will eventually crack in the cold weather after multiple uses (these should definately be upgraded by the manufacturer to heavier and softer rubber ) 3) clamps are a bit on the small side for these reason's I only gave it 4 stars

This paid for itself the first week I owned it. In -35 degree weather it boosted my vehicles quickly. It's light and easy to drag around. Much easier than trying to boost from another vehicle. I used the charger once and it worked very well.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this one 3 mnths ago because I have a couple older vans that I do not use on daily base - one is diesel. I already used it a few times and it did start up my vans every time with no problem ! I love it !

    • A: Sounds like you're looking for a compact yet powerful charger. Consider the NOCO Genius G26000. Don't let the 26A rating deter you - its microprocessor control will charge as fast as not faster than a big, wheeled charger. Plus you get the benefits of smart charging.

Q: Is it capable of 40 amp continuous charging? or duty cycle? I need something that can provide the full 40 amps for the full time allotted. ie: 11-1586-4 when in 55amp mode is off 2x as long as it's on, so it's inferior to a 25amp continuous.
