The insert is slightly bigger than 1-1/4 inches. The dimensions of the metal insert are fine, but the metal is coated with a thick paint or epoxy. I would not buy the adapter unless you have a means of grinding off the paint/expoxy as I had to do to get it to fit into the 1-1/4 receiver tube on my hitch.

The way the product fitted on a 2023 F250.

I guess I should have been more observant. 2 things. 1. The small square piece hits. The spare so I cut it off. 2. Once the insert was in the receiver the holes didn’t line up because of the weld on the square flange on the front so I had to grind the welds off and remove the flange so the insert could slide in further to line up the holes.

A: The adapter does not impact the maximum towing capacity or the tongue weight. It is more important the user pays attention to the towing capacity of the vehicle and the receiver hitch they are towing with. Those will point out their capacities.
