I put this battery in my 2006 Audi A3 and it has started every time. It's mid September now. I'll have to see how it performs when the weather gets cold

Purchase of a battery in an Emergency

I bought this in an emergency situation (3pm on the Sunday before the Labour Day holiday) and I did not have time to research which battery would best suit my needs. I depended on the Counter staff to assist and while they were very helpful I get the feeling they did not have in-depth knowledge about battery selection. While they recommended a battery which works in my vehicle and certainly got me mobile they chose a battery that does not allow for the extensive electrical/electronic equipment in my vehicle and its heavy reliance on the battery. While I am very grateful for their help I get the feeling after reading the data on the Canadian Tire webpage that the battery will not have a very long life. I hope i am wrong. Please do not criticize the staff who assisted me as I feel they gave their best on the training they received and they were very attentive and helpful. Instead I feel the senior management of the store should do more training on weekend and holiday staff to ensure they have the knowledge to not only solve the problem but also to better explain to ht customer the altenatives.

Start Me Up

The battery for my Yamaha Warrior is somewhat of an odd size - quite thin compared to other batteries of like motorcycles. I found the battery at CTC that I needed it and it fit in my battery holder with no problem. While the true test of the battery may be to see how it performs next spring after sitting dormant for the winter, so far, I'm getting a charge out of this produce.

Questions

Q: Is this battery vented? Where exactly is the port? I need to connect my car's vent hose underneath the passenger seat.

5 Answers
  • A: A follow up to Pete's follow up... The hardware bag attached to the side of the battery is being phased out. Going forward, the vent plug will be supplied attached to a red positive post cover. Simply twist of vent plug off the post cover.

Q: will warranty be honored if not installed by CTC

4 Answers
  • A: Funny you should ask, the answer is a qualified yes. I have exchanged it over the counter...be prepared to prove the battery needs to be replaced. However, when I had my vehicle in the CT garage and was already paying them to find a parasitic drain (they didn't find it...I found it myself later), they replaced the (less than 2 days old) battery thinking that was the problem (it wasn't) and charged me $50 for the "work" since they did not originally install it.

Q: Does this battery come with a vent tube? It shows that this battery can be used as a replacement in my 2000 porsche 911, it has a vent tube

3 Answers
  • A: No it does not. If your vehicle has the battery in the passenger compartment (ie inside the car) then you need a battery with a vent tube to prevent the inhalation or off gasses from the battery from being inhaled.

  • A: 2 amps is a deep cycle charge. Leave it overnight on 2 amp trickle charge for best results.

Q: Will this work for a 2006 gmc canyon

2 Answers
  • A: The battery in a 2006 Canyon sits within an active cooling box. A dual terminal battery is unlikely to fit properly within the box. A "true" Group 86 battery is required to fit properly.

Q: I e accidentally screwed my strap holders onto my cover which have penetrated the battery casing. It is now leaking a clear and brown colour. What should I do? Battery being used for camper.

2 Answers
  • A: The fluid oozing out of the casing may be actual battery acid.  If you sprinkle some baking soda onto the liquid, it may bubble and suds up.  That will confirm that the ooze is acid.  If nothing happens, then the ooze is not acid.  In either case, although expensive, replace the battery, clean up the ooze with baking soda and water, and flush with copious amounts of water.
