The faucet itself is OK - good pressure, although it's a bit loud when you turn it on full. The 'chrome' deck plate is plastic as well as the piece that fits under/inside it. Whatever it is it certainly isn't a gasket or any type of seal. Even turned tight there's still a gap and any water that gets splashed onto the deck plate will make its way under it and down the holes where the water lines fit through. I'm going to have to put some silicon caulking around it to seal it.

The chrome escutcheon/deck plate included with the Moen 87603 Adler Single Handle Kitchen Faucet, Chrome is metallic. The escutcheon/deck plate gasket included with the faucet is non-metallic and is designed to prevent water accidentally splashed onto the faucet during normal usage from getting under the sink. If splash-back onto the faucet is a concern, you can use a bead of waterproof sealant or caulk to provide an additional seal. Moen product specialists are available for pre-purchase, installation, and warranty assistance. They can be reached at1-800-289-6636 and are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 7:00 pm Eastern Time.
