works great if used as intended.

I turn the cooler on using the ac/dc adapter the night before we travel to pre-cool it, and place cold items in it just before we leave. I plug it in the truck and it keeps everything nice and cool while traveling. I haven't used it to heat anything but plan to do that soon to see if it will do what we want. I've had this cooler for about 12 yrs and have zero complaints.

Excellent cooler.

Used it for a couple of long trips. Slow to cool things off, but one going it kept things cold. It’s been plugged in at home for almost a year now and the only problem was frosting up once because it was not closed properly. Unlike the description of the current one, mine came with the AC adapter. If the quality of this one is any indication, I would not hesitate to buy it again.

Q: Does this cooler operate while the car is turned off, or only while engine is running?
2 Answers
A: The cooler is plugged into a car cigarette lighter jack or similar 12v accessory outlet. These are usually constantly 24/7 live unless your vehicle has a special shut off feature. So YES it operates when the car is shut off. I estimate the cooler draws a constant 3 to 4 amps. So be aware of a possible dead car battery after a few hours of the vehicle being turned off.
The cooler is well insulated and can be unplugged for a few hours.

Q: Can this be used to warm mason jar canned food?
My son is in a college dorm and they are very strict about appliances. I am thinking of canning a bunch of meals in mason jars and then having him use this heating option to warm up the jars for eating. Would be a good use for this product?

Q: How does the AC adapter plug into this cooler?
I purchased this cooler a couple months back and I now have an overnight trip which we can use it. I have not yet purchased the adpter but I cannot figure out how the adapter would plug into this cooler?
Please help.

A: When you plug in the adapter be careful about how you match up the coloured dots. If you plug in the adapter one way, it will cool and the other way, it will warm. I did it the wrong way once and spoiled my milk before I realized my error.

Q: The fan in my mobicool has gotten mildewy. Is there anyway to safely clean it?
1 Answer
A: Mildew and mould is extremely difficult to remove. It is possible to open the lid and gain access to the fan system, but it is doubtful that cleaning would eliminate all mildew. For health reasons this is not recommended.
