The batteries work as they should but they cost a good deal more from Cdn Tire than from online vendors (as I found out too late).

Q: Would this work in a 12v kids ride in car?

    4 Answers
    • A: Maybe. This battery needs to match the dimensions, amp hours (AH), and battery terminals of the one you are replacing, then it will work. However, a better choice would be a deep cycle battery, which is intended to be discharged/charged more.

Q: MK 12 volt 18 Ah SLA Battery: How much does it weigh? Will it hold its charge in -15`C ? How long, before recharge, will it last, with a 10 amp load, if temp is around -5`C?

    3 Answers
    • A: It is quite heavy. Yes, it should last but may be best to bring it in during extreme cold weather. Not sure how long before recharge.

    • A: Any tender would work. It's a conventional battery, not a li-ion or something unconventional.

Q: Can I use this battery with a Minn Kota Endura C2 Trolling Motor, 30-lb ?

    2 Answers
    • A: Hi, It will run it - but only for about 5 minutes. This is how it is. 1. It's not a "deep cycle" battery which you must have for this application. This type of battery is more for standby power systems, - but you can read up on it. 2. It's only 18 ampere hours. This means it can supply 18 Amps for 1 hour. BUT you should NEVER discharge a LA battery completely, So max discharge is probably about 50 % or 9 Amp hours. 3. You can never charge a LA battery up more than about 80% of full CAPACITY WITHOUT RUINING IT. 4. Your useful charge is therefore 80 % of 18 Amp Hours - 50 % of 18 amp hours which is 5 1/2 Amp hours. 5. Your Endura 30 will draw 30 Amps at full power so that gives you 11 minutes, but the voltage is going down all the time so it will only produce full power for a few minutes and then die away to practically nothing. Even at low power it won't last long. 6. You need to get a Deep Cycle LA battery, that's a "Marine, " or an "RV" battery of around 100 Amp hours, depends on how much weight you can handle. Preferably a Sealed Battery, Glass Mat. If you use a cheaper unsealed type you need to get a "Battery box" (preferably one especially for trolling motors, with a battery charge tester built in), otherwise you will eventually spill acid out of it and next day all your clothes will be full of holes. Even this might not prevent spilling, especially in a boat, so get a sealed battery. 7. Expect to get a new battery every couple of years - this application is very hard on batteries. 8. Don't be tempted to use a car battery this is totally unsuitable and won't last very long, they are never intended to be discharged, they are only for short bursts of power to start an engine, the rest of the time they are being charged. 9. Finally, you will need a "Smart" charger to keep the battery in good condition. NEVER leave the battery discharged after use. The sulphates that build up during discharge get harder with time, and you will loose capacity and the battery will never charge properly. 10. You need to keep the battery charged up periodically because, even if it's put away charged, it "self discharges" with time and then the sulphates build up etc. etc. That's my experience.

Q: Can you use a charger that has 2 amps rate?

    2 Answers
    • A: My "Intelligent" charger that I bought from Canadian Tire has a setting for charging AGM batteries. The manual from the charger says to use the 2A charging rate of the charger, to charge small batteries like this one.

Q: What would be the best 12v battery for a small solar system ie. using a 7 watt panel

    2 Answers
    • A: Use a UPS Battery not these you do realize that 7 watts is only 1/2 amp. depends on what you need it for but a 6A battery would take you 12 hours to charge (greater than one day).
