Solid Metabo Quality

After using the Metabo HPT 36V MultiVolt Cordless Circular Saw extensively for various construction projects, I can confidently say that this tool strikes a fantastic balance between performance and versatility, although there are a few features that could use some improvement. One of the most impressive aspects of this saw is its power. With the ability to run either on a 36V MultiVolt battery or plugged directly into an outlet with the MultiVolt AC adapter, this saw offers unmatched flexibility on the job site. Whether you’re working in areas with limited power access or plugged into an outlet, the saw delivers impressive cutting power comparable to corded models. The brushless motor technology contributes to enhanced run-time, more power, and longer durability, which means less downtime for battery changes. It cuts through 2x material and dimensional lumber effortlessly, and I never ran out of battery during a typical work session, which is a huge advantage when you’re working on larger jobs like building a workshop or a home. Weighing in at just 9.7 lbs with the battery, this saw is much lighter than many of its competitors, which significantly reduces fatigue over extended periods of use. The lightweight design doesn’t sacrifice power; I was still able to tackle heavy-duty cuts with ease. The cut capacity of 2-7/16” at 90 degrees ensures that it’s capable of handling thick materials, and I found it particularly useful for making clean, precise cuts in sheet goods. Additionally, the dust blower keeps the cutting path clear of debris, although, like most saws, it’s not perfect at dust collection. The soft start mechanism is another thoughtful feature that helps minimize recoil and noise during startup, making it more user-friendly. Additionally, the electric brake ensures quick stops for added safety. A issue I encountered is the blade visibility. While the design offers good visibility of the cut line from the right side, I do wish there was a built-in LED light for better precision in low-light conditions. This would have made cutting in dim environments much easier, especially when working indoors or on projects that require finer detail. On the plus side, the on-tool blade wrench storage is a huge convenience for quick blade changes. It’s small touches like this that make the overall user experience smoother. Also, the heavy-duty aluminum base ensures the saw stays durable, and the easy-to-read scale adds another layer of convenience when making precise depth adjustments. After using this saw for a range of projects, I’m very satisfied with its overall performance. It’s a well-built, powerful, and lightweight saw that offers the flexibility of both cordless and corded operation, making it ideal for a variety of job site needs. If you’re looking for a saw that can handle tough jobs with ease while offering the convenience of both cordless and corded power, this Metabo HPT saw is an excellent choice.

Saw that gives up nothing for being cordless

This is a full sized battery powered saw that feels every bit as powerful as a corded saw. I haven't counted, but have yet to wear out the battery during a normal construction session cutting through 2x material. Several gripes that I hadn't anticipated when I bought this saw: 1) As a righty, the blade is on the wrong side of the handle when I cut making it harder to follow a line 2) I am slightly annoyed by the need for a 36v battery - thats probably the source of the cutting power, but they're expensive and not as common as the 18v. 3) This is less justified because no circular saw seems to have decent dust management, but this one seems to shoot the dust out right onto the cutting surface, making it even harder to see my line that I'm already contorting myself to try to see. All in all, I'd probably buy this again just because it does work well, but I think they could easily make it even better.

Awesome power with great precision

What an excellent saw, I'm really impressed! This saw is solid, nothing flimsy about it and plenty of power. It would easily cut though everything, from hard oak boards to LVP. I haven't made a cut count on battery life but it's definitely above average. Handling and weight is proportionate and it's a well balanced saw that's easy to use. Thickness and degree settings are easy and accurate. I would definitely recommend this circular saw.
