Maintain water levels in basements and sump pits with the Mastercraft Cast Iron Column Sump Pump, 1/3 HP. Designed for permanent installation, this electric sump pump is ideal for removing water from basement sump pits and basins. Powered by a 1/3 HP motor, this pedestal sump pump has a maximum flow rate of 3000 GPH (11,363 L/h). Built-in thermal overload protection prevents the motor from overheating by switching off the sump pump before damage is caused. The non-submersible design allows for easy servicing and repair, while the metal switch arm provides added strength. The permanent split-capacitator motor has lower amperage, which keeps the motor cooler and helps with longevity. Stainless-steel and cast-iron construction lends durability to this basement pump by helping to prevent rusting and corrosion. Additionally, the stainless-steel shaft prevents corrosion and breakage, adding resiliency to this water pump for basement. The automatic, adjustable float switch turns the pump on and off at a predetermined water level. The cast iron base provides added strength and support, while the stainless-steel impeller resists clogs and handles solids up to 3/16” (0.5cm) in diameter. A top suction design eliminates air locks and clogging from the bottom of the sump pit. A screwdriver, hacksaw, tape measure, rigid pipe, tongue and groove pliers, zip ties, cement, and a check valve (sold separately) may be required in order to install the pump. This product includes a 10’ (3m) power cord.

It's ok if you only need it for 6 months before it quits working. We bought this in Nov 25 and just noticed the pump isn't working anymore; now the motor just hums.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Much improved over the old injection molded pump

I put one of these in the low spot of my yard every spring to pump out runoff, and the new cast iron pump design is much better, and quieter than the old injection molded pump. Seems to supply better head pressure too. The addition of a guard for the float switch and float guide is a welcome addition as well.

Q: I have an 8 year old 062-3585-2 1/3 hp sump pump. What is the operating and surge wattage of this unit?

  • A: Hi there, This pump runs on 2.76 amps, that is a wattage draw of about 320 watts The start up draw is 13.8 amps, that is about 1500 watts. most of the start up draw is delivered by the capacitor Thanks

  • A: The model I got had a stainless steel shaft and impeller, and the output is only 3000 gallon/ hr. Looks like they have changed the unit despite the same model # 062-3585-2.

Q: What is the minimum depth requirement for this unit? Bought one pump today but have to return it because it needs a minimum depth of 2 feet. Yikes. My pit is only @ 1 foot high.

  • A: This pump must be installed in a suitable gas tight, properly vented basin which is a maximum 24" deep and a minimum 14" wide for pumps fitted with vertical on/off switches.

Q: How long is this unit on sale? Also, how deep can the sump hole be without danger of the motor being submerged?

  • A: Sales normally run from Fridays to Thursdays. Please contact your local Canadian Tire store for further assistance. This pump can be safely submerged up to a maximum of 20”. Standard sump pits are 18” deep so at this depth the pit would over flow before water reached the motor.
