This is the perfect Vise. It can grab on to any kind material. It has a decent size anvil space and it’s adjustable so you can angel whatever you’re working on. Better than any vice I’ve ever used.

Very good vice for the price. For the weekend do-it-yourselfer it more than suits the need in that price range. For the people on here that have complained about its robustness I can only chuckle! I've always said that some people should never attempt to use a power tool, or even a manual tool, and for that reason I don't place too much weight in reviews. I purchase the product, hang on to my receipt, and if it doesn't meet expectations I bring it back! End of story! For the price point it's a decent product. You have to keep in mind that you're not buying an 'industrial grade' Anvil type product here, for thousands of dollars! It's a home-shop type vise for odd light - medium duty type jobs. 👍

Q: MAXIMUM Heavy-Duty Multi-Purpose Vise, 5-in #057-9031-8 Can't find the receipt and I paid cash for it almost 2 years ago. How can I get the outside part of the main jaw? Fell off like it was made out of sand.

A: @ Randy: I was told over the phone that no receipt means no warranty is CT's policy thee days. I'll lug it to store and see if they'll do something. @ Mike I got the number off the site. Didn't know there was a newer version. It looked like mine so I figured it was. Thanks for pointing that out.

Q: What iron is this vice made out of? Is it all ductile iron or does it include grey metal components? Where is it manufactured? What is the maximum clamping force that it is rated for?

A: The body and base of the vise are made from ductile iron. The jaw is made of #45 steel and the handle is A3 steel. The max clamping force is roughly 20,000Nf The vise is manufactured in China.
