Worked perfectly.

I got these at 50% off to remove a screw from a shower faucet handle that sheared off. I drilled out the centre tapped in the 2nd smallest extractor, and what my Allen wrench couldn't do, the extractor did without a problem.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: curious as to exactly how to use this product....power drill? pointy end? spiral end?

  • A: This extractor set is best deployed when you have a broken off bolts flush or below flush . 1) with a center punch and hammer make a mark dead center of the bolt to be removed. 2) drill with the appropriate sized bit (theres a chart on the back) it may be necessary to drill all the way through the bolt but sometimes u can get it with just partially drilling through. 3) insert the matching extractor into the drilled hole and give a light tap with a hammer to seat the extractor 4) use a square socket and rachet of the appropriate size (ideal) or a wrench and start to twist counter clockwise to remove the bolt. If the bolt is rusty some heat may be required or you may need to drill to the next size up if possible.

1 Answer
  • A: This product will work if the size of deck screw is within the size #1-5 range.

Q: of the Mastercraft 5-piece Screw Extractor Set, Sizes #1-5, what is the smallest size extractor size? i am looking to extract a 1.5mm hex screw

1 Answer
  • A: he smallest spiral screw extractor is a #1 which can be used on 1/8” to ¼” screws . 1/8” is the equivalent of 3.1 mm so we would think that it is too big for this application.
