Highly Useful Cord

The 50 foot Mastercraft 12/3 (12 gauge, grounded) outdoor extension cord with lighted end and locking connector is a highly useful extension cord to have available. Its yellow colour makes the cord highly visible regardless of the outdoor light conditions. The lighted end lets you know that it is powered and ready to use. The locking connector feature is handy to have and easy to use.

Q: In Calgary was looking at this for my cars block heater plug. will it be flexible enough to coil up on cold days? Should I go down to 16 guage?

A: It rolls up easy as long as you know how to roll an ext cord. It will keep memory. Any heater should be running 12 gauge, it is unsafe to run a large load with a 16 gauge ext cord. The cord ends of 16 gauge get hot and deform / risk of fire.

A: Not sure if the load capacity for a car battery. Think you’d best check with the battery manufacturer for safety specs related to extension cords.

A: It might not break but it will be very stiff. Used mine in sub -30C this week and it was uncooperatively stiff. Had to drag it inside in a mess until it warmed up enough to coil.

Q: Below grade use Can this cord be used below grade? I would like to bury it below grade to use as a temporary or Backup feed in conjunction with my portable generator and my Camp.

A: Pretty sure it's against code to bury portable power cable (extension cords) or use portable cable in permanent installations.

Q: Will these cords stay flexible in cold weather when it get well below 0, such as -10.? I want to use this with my electric snowblower.

A: No it will not be flexible. I had one, It was stiff and cracked in the cold. They also wouldn't honor the 3 year warranty.

A: I was having the same problem finding a certain extension cord and then I discovered that the cord that I was looking for was actually a sub-product of similar cords and I had to click on Style/Size to get to the right cord. I checked and yours is available on the internet and you have to do the same thing to find it.
