Stained our new patio. I thought this was supposed to protect the patio? After moving the mat that had been sitting for a couple weeks under the bbq, it has darkened our brand new light stone patio. Awesome thanks.

A: Hello, the smooth side of the rubber mat goes on top, and the rough side goes under. We also suggest consulting the porcelain floor tiles manufacturing company if it safe to use rubber mat on the surface. Thank you.

Q: Can this grill mat be used on a cement surface, or will it discolor the cement?

A: Like anything that you put directly on a surface, the area underneath it, whether it’s a mat or a carpet, will not be exposed to the elements/weather. Once you remove the mat or rug or carpet etc. That area will look different from the surrounding area, however this probably will even itself out at some point.
