Still working great

My wife got this for me when she got my my new grill fathers day 2013. It's been a year and this little timer is still working great. I have yet to have to change the batteries in that year, and it sat outside under my bbq all winter and still works fine. People are complaining you can't turn it off. Mine is still going strong on the original batteries.

Thoroughly Disappointed

Even after reading all of the comments on here I decided to take a chance on this product, only to find out that the reviews don't lie.
The first issue I had was that there is no on/off switch, so you have to take the battery out every time you want to turn it off.
The second issue, which was a big one was that the display was broken and portions of the numbers wouldn't show up.
I'm guessing that the display issue could have been fixed by trying a new one out, but at the point of return I didn't feel like giving this product another chance.

Poor product

Doesn't even have an off switch - you either have to remove batteries all the time after you finish using it or your batteries will die.
Also, the one I got doesn't work any more, lasted less than a year.

Avoid

Upon opening the blister pack I was greeted with a unit that already had finger prints all over it. Not visible within the blister pack. Then I pulled out the instructions which were covered in dirt and have what appears to be blood on them.
Pressing onward I sterilized the unit, and went to use it. It cannot be turned off without removing the battery, and the temperature reading seems fairly dodgy to me.
Bought it as a gift, and am at the recipients house using it, I no longer have the receipt but will be contacting masterchef directly.

Price is right!

For the price, it does what it should so keep that in mind. Did the 'ice water' calibrating test and reads spot on however, when not in use you must remove battery because there is no off button despite what other reviews have mentioned.
Sharp looking little unit with magnet & pop out stand, probe is generic 500 degree probe made in china.
Cons: No off button, when/if you set timer and switch back to temperature reading the timer resets to zero which makes no sense. As previous reviewer mentioned, beeper continues to beep when set temp is reached.

A: For the base, it's underneath. For the display, it's on the right side.

A: Takes about 2-10 seconds to get a stable read. This is because the base only transmits the temperature every 2-5 seconds, and it takes 2 transmits to catch up
