Ruined my boat

I bought this marine paint to do the interior of my small sailboat. 3 days now and it won't dry. I got the paint shaken at the store waited for good temps (24°c low of 16°c) very low humidity here. stirred paint well before I used an airless sprayer to apply it. Put a fan in there to aid with drying. Added a small heater after first day. Nothing helped. It looks good and cured till you touch it. A firm skin on top but it slides and wrinkles with any pressure. Now I need to find a way to remove it all somehow. Do yourself a favour and stay far away from solignum marine paints.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: can this paint be used on fiberglass pool stairs? Is it meant to be underwater at all times? I know some marine paints are only for the above the water, they are water resistant but not meant to be in water at all times.

  • A: We would not recommend using this on fiberglass pool stairs as the marine paint is not meant to be submerged in water at all times.

Q: How long for this paint to fully cure?

3 Answers
  • A: I am not sure. The paint would transfer to our clothes for the rest of the summer. The boat was put in storage over winter. I just checked the paint and it now appears to be cured. Curing time was somewhere between 3 - 12 months.

Q: If applying outdoors, how long does it need to dry before a rain?

  • A: Hello there Evanie8, we recommend to wait approximately 16-24 hours for a complete dry before introducing to a wet environment. May factors can altar the dry time such as humidity and temperature. Hope this helps. Q: Can I use this product on the exterior of unglazed terracotta pots for OUTDOOR use? Is a primer required?

3 Answers
  • A: Hi there Wetcoaster, this paint can be used on unglazed terracotta pots - this will give the pots a full gloss finish. Additionally, a primer is not required prior to painting the pots. If you would like to thin the paint for the first coat - then it should be used with paint thinner at about 10%. If you have any further questions regarding future projects please contact us at 1-866-PAINT99 or by email at premier@ucppaint.com and we would be happy to further assist you. If you have any upcoming interior projects please feel free to check out our Premier Interior products at your local Canadian Tire.

Q: Can I use this paint for the (bare/unfinished) plywood walls in the interior of my enclosed trailer? If so do I need to first apply a primer?

3 Answers
  • A: Yes you can.  I used it on a plywood box mounted on my ATV and I made a smooth super hard coating that has been waterproof for a few years so far.  I thinned it a bit for the first coat to get better penetration.

Merci !
