After owning this product for two years I can see why they discontinued it, they show in the advertisement how the screen looks but in real life that's not the case.

Terrible Documentation for Beginners

An example of poor documentation is immediately apparent on page 4 of the manual which tells one to go to this web site for video tutorials. Click on Support, Tips and Tutorials it says. No such item is on the support page. The videos that are elsewhere on the site are not tutorials but sales fluff telling how great the unit is. The manual leads one through the menus telling what items will appear when you click (which you can easily find by clicking) but with no explanation of what the items do or why one would use them. For example: Page 8 and page 80 both tell about multiple "Fishing Modes" that have to do with water clarity and depth and "Ping Speed" with no hint as to what these are used for. What if you are not fishing at all. Perhaps a fisherman already knows this stuff, but I don't. There is a large section concerning gauges and dashboards with nothing about the data that is available to display.Where does this data come from? Are all the sensors that supply it part of the Lowrance or does it connect to a data bus of some kind. How would I add a sensor?
Length of Ownership1 month

Yes, I recommend this product.

Ease of use

Purchased new MDX 2072 with motor guide Xi5 trolling motor and two HDS-7 GEN 2 units networked for the bow and console. I have been fishing and guiding on the Cumberland, Barren, Green and Nolin watersheds for years and feel the future is very bright with the shared technology of lowrance and motor guide. Awaiting my gateway cabling to network the trolling motor and HDS units, will provide follow-up comments after the spring season.
Length of Ownership3 months

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Does this GPS/Fish Finder include maps of Canadian waters or are they purchased separately?

1 Answer
  • A: Product # 178-1361 does carry Canadian water on it but it may not have all of the smaller bodies of water. We do sell a Navionics Hotmaps SD/MSD Premium Canada card Product #178-1925 that you can use with this fish finder and it will provide with more Canadian lakes.
