We purchased this welder almost 20 years ago for our business. I personally used it for constructing many industrial projects. I absolutely loved it! Gots all the power ya need. I've been gone from that business for a long time but see it's still available. I'd buy it again if needed.

      Yes, I recommend this product.

Does exactly what it's supposed to.

Great, great welder. Very cheap, price-wise, compared to 220v MIGs and can do mostly everything. Bulletproof. If you're thinking about getting a cheap 120v MIG unit and have the convenience/proximity of 220v, skip it and buy this instead. You'll save money and your welds will most likely be structurally better. Only thing against it is that it's only AC but you can have it modified by a qualified person to be DC capable.

      Yes, I recommend this product.

This welder is amazing. I got it last week have used it everyday since. I have all 4 cwb tickets and if you can use the rods right it will do anything you ask. I've done vertical flat horizontal and overhead position on 1/8" 1/4" 1/2" and 3/4" steel and it worked perfectly. definitely great for homes and farms and has very good long lasting reputation

      Yes, I recommend this product.

      Questions

Q: Can I run this off my NEMA 14-30 dryer receptacle?

      7 Answers
      • A: Yes it can be done for lighter work. All you need to do is change the plug to an old dryer plug wired properly. Red and black are 110 volts each giving you your 220 volts. If the welder doesnt have the white wire you can forget about wiring it. Clip it and insulate to avoid contact with anything. Green or unisulated copper is your ground and you better make sure to wire them together to keep your insurance company happy. For heavier work with thick steel requiring the 225 amp setting and welding for longer periods you can expect the breaker to trip. Allow to cool down for 5 minutes before resseting and welding again.

Q: I would like to plug this machine into a regular wall outlet, is there a special plug i can buy for it?

      5 Answers
      • A: You can get 230V if you use 2 outlets that are on different phases. Wire them in series. Many kitchen outlets contain two phases. Look to see if the link between the two sockets is broken.

Q: Can this unit be powered by a 5000 watt (continuous) generator?

      4 Answers
      • A: Watts = Input Amps x volts. Let's say you are running the machine at full output. At that output you are drawing nearly 50 amps of power from the wall. 50 x 230= 11,500 watts needed to run at full power. If you are running the machine at lower outputs you may be able to use the welder however there are no ratings given on the Lincoln website to show you the input power needed at various outputs. You may want to look at a Lincoln generator/welder that gives you the ability to stick weld.

Q: Can you weld aluminum with this welder?

      3 Answers
      • A: You can't weld aluminum with it. There are aluminum electrodes available but they require AC. I'm not sure what would happen if you used them on DC output but your weld would certainly be a porous mess. An AC-TIG or MIG with spoolgun is what you want (and don't bother with any 120 volt welder- you need a LOT of amps to weld aluminum).

Q: 225 welder enquiry I bought a welder and realized my panel will not handle more. Can i use my stove outlet to run my welder when needed.I bought a stove cord replacement and cut the neutral plug off . The stove runs off 2-40amp inline breakers

      3 Answers
      • A: Most welding stores will sell you an adaptor that plugs into the stove (or dryer) outlet and the other end is the NEMA-50 style used by welders. On the higher settings you may trip the breakers but if you're welding light stuff it will work just fine. Welding stores can also sell you the "extension cords" but be aware that a 50 foot cord is super expensive, heavy and the resistance will decrease your output.

Q: Input amperage Is this welder wired directly into a panel or does it have a plug? Also, what is the input amperage required by the welder on the circuit panel?

      2 Answers
      • A: The welder draws 50 amps, requires a dedicated 50 amp breaker, and it has the correctly configured NEMA plug for this. Technically, it could be hard wired but this is not advisable since it then requires electrical inspection in most jurisdictions. A unit plugged in does not in most jurisdictions, although the installation of a receptacle will.
