I purchased this product 2 years ago. About 6.months ago, the outdoor sensor was malfunctioning and the outside temperature display was off by 10+ degrees. I took the outdoor sensor apart and cleaned it only to have it stop working 2 months later. Up until the sensor failed, we loved the station.
Will not purchase again based on other reviews.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Great Nerd Toy

I recently bought the basic Lacross Weather Station and loved it so much I decided to get this one. It's really sleek looking and the outdoor wind vane receiver is a lot bigger than I thought (a good thing), and mounted just fine. I'm really enjoying it! It functions as a calendar/clock too, has alarm features, and an adjustable backlight (which is much appreciated). Only thing i would say is that wind speed does max out, highest reading I've gotten being 40.7km/h. It also only has trend indicators for outside parameters but not inside. Its still a very neat toy for nerds and a great conversation piece I'd bet. Who else can say they have their own live weather report on display at home?

Q: The SPECIFICATION section does not indicate that the unit uses a “5 Volt DC adapter”, but does indicate the unit requires “3 AAA Alkaline batteries”. Can the ‘display unit’ function fully with ONLY the AAA batteries? I do not have access to 120 Volts

A: I don’t have access to hydro (120 Volts) Using an inverter and a car battery would work - I could use a small solar panel to top up the battery but I’m unsure as to how much power the AC adapter would draw, thus how long a good deep cell battery would last.

A: Display works fine on batteries, just have to touch button on top to view screen. I have never plugged mine in. Batteries last about one year.

Q: Why does the outdoor temperature and wind indicator work for a day or two, stop for a number of hours , then begin working again. The unit is only 2 months old, and contains new, good quality batteries

A: Actually I have two of these units and really enjoy their information. One of the anamometers got heavy rain in the battery compartment and rusted and stopped transmitting. I linked its base to the new weather station and now have two fully functioning displays.
