This is the second one (same model)
Pro: large display. Great information ( indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity) wind speed combinations that provides ‘feels like’ temperature
Con: after a couple of years the outdoor temperature would fluctuate 5-10 degrees C, then we lost wind speed after trying to clean the outdoor sensor

Decent - Anemometer not suitable for Newfoundland

Temperature and humidity wise the unit seems great. It's durable, although the fasteners are made of carbon so they do rust, so whatever you secure it to, just be aware that rust may bleed onto it.
The biggest disappointment is the Anemometer. it doesn't really go past 30 km/h and the gauge to show if it is windy maxes out at 30km/h. which is a light breeze in Newfoundland.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: The SPECIFICATION section does not indicate that the unit uses a “5 Volt DC adapter”, but does indicate the unit requires “3 AAA Alkaline batteries”. Can the ‘display unit’ function fully with ONLY the AAA batteries? I do not have access to 120 Volts

A: I don’t have access to hydro (120 Volts) Using an inverter and a car battery would work - I could use a small solar panel to top up the battery but I’m unsure as to how much power the AC adapter would draw, thus how long a good deep cell battery would last.

A: Display works fine on batteries, just have to touch button on top to view screen. I have never plugged mine in. Batteries last about one year.

Q: Why does the outdoor temperature and wind indicator work for a day or two, stop for a number of hours , then begin working again. The unit is only 2 months old, and contains new, good quality batteries

A: Actually I have two of these units and really enjoy their information. One of the anamometers got heavy rain in the battery compartment and rusted and stopped transmitting. I linked its base to the new weather station and now have two fully functioning displays.
