Best bug protection.
These were amazing and it's a shame you can't find them anywhere anymore. I was a little bit allergic to the adhesive which would leave a red patch for a few days afterwards but the bug protection was worth it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

It's a shame these are discontinued.
It's a shame these are discontinued, because this is the only product that has ever worked for me in the war against mosquitos.
I'm normally a magnet, to the point where one year I completely drenched myself in bug spray, even on areas it says not to, like the face. I watched as mosquitos hovered in my face just looking for a spot I missed, and I was still bitten elsewhere. Meanwhile all my friends were like "oh it's not that bad".
Last year, I came across these patches and knew that in a week I'd be at my friends house for a campfire, which meant, yep, I was going to become food again.
I put one of these on about an hour before leaving for the party. I did not get a single bite. I actually watched a few mosquitos head right for me, and then turn 180 degrees and leave. It was the best feeling in the world.
The odd thing is, my now ex-girlfriend also had tried one that night, and she did get a ton of bites. I still strongly feel it's because she put hers on her upper breast instead of on her upper arm like I did. Something tells me the body doesn't absorb as much from the area she put it on.
Long story short, this was an excellent product for people like me, and I guess I'll just be searching elsewhere for Vitamin B1 when I decide to brave the outdoors again.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I've used this product twice now, both with fantastic results.
I'm normally a mosquito magnet. I just used a single patch for a weekend of camping. I put it on when I got to the campsite, once I got my first bite and was reminded of mosquitoes.
Within half an hour, mosquitoes stopped flying near me, into my ears, into my eyes, etc. I saw them fly by at a distance once in awhile, but never close like they normally do, even with deet on. Other than that first bite, I couldn't find any other bites at all.
I didn't go swimming both weekends, nor took any showers, but I did sweat some. The patch stayed in place, totally unnoticed. I put it on my upper arm, just under where my t-shirt would cover. It was hard to peel off at the end of the weekend, slightly pink but no different than peeling off tape. My skin was totally normal again within 5 minutes. I had no reactions or noticeable affects from taking it.
There is a sliiiiight smell of vitamin b1. You know that smell in a multi-vitamin container. It's not pleasant, but I only noticed when really sniffed for it, and obviously it's 872634834 times better than poison-deet. Considering you're outside and probably reek of campfire more than anything, I would hardly be concerned about it.
One thing it seems to work less on is bitey flies. They would get right near me; they kept going for behind my ear as always. None bit me, but I'm not sure that's just me swiping at them fast enough or the patch making them reconsider at close range.
I'm sure it may not work for everyone, but I strongly recommend you try, because if it works like it does for me, you'll be SO much happier not covered in sticky stinky poison for days at a time!
Also, some facts about B1 (thiamine) from wiki cause I got really curious. (for ref, the patch is 75mg over 36 hours):
It is an essential nutrient.
Thiamine deficiency has a potentially fatal outcome if it remains untreated. In less severe cases, nonspecific signs include malaise, weight loss, irritability and confusion.
foods rich in thiamine are oatmeal, flax, and sunflower seeds, brown rice, whole grain rye, asparagus, kale, cauliflower, potatoes, oranges, liver (beef, pork, and chicken), and eggs.
The RDA in most countries is set at about 1.4 mg. However, tests on female volunteers at daily doses of about 50 mg have claimed an increase in mental acuity.
There are no reports available of adverse effects from consumption of excess thiamine by ingestion of food and supplements. Because the data is inadequate for a quantitative risk assessment, no Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) can be derived for thiamine.
Thiamine in foods can be degraded in a variety of ways. Sulfites, which are added to foods usually as a preservative, will attack thiamine.
Sulfites occur naturally in all wines. Sulfites are often used as preservatives in dried fruits, preserved radish, and dried potato products. Most beers no longer contain sulfites.
Decline in thiamine absorption occurs at intakes above 5 mg/day.
Human storage of thiamine is about 25 to 30 mg, with the greatest concentrations in skeletal muscle, heart, brain, liver, and kidneys.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Stinky
Tried this at the lake this weekend and still got attacked by sand flies, black flies and not a bite but there was this odd odor that followed me around for 2 days after both showering and changing bedding and clothes.
I would use on a small child because it's ingredients are not dangerous, just smelly.

Q: How quickly will the patch work?
I am having an outdoor wedding and would like to know how quickly the patch starts working? I was thinking of buying some for our guests and giving them out at the entrance, for people to use if the want to.
Any thoughts about this?
Thanks!
