Buyer beware Avoid CT if you have Lordco or NAPA available.

Didn't use it! Didn't open the package! Ended up taking my vehicle to a mechanic. Normally unopened return policy is 3 months. Small print on the CT sales slip limited this item to 14 days! Another retailer graciously took it back for me

I have a carbureted GM truck with HEI ignition. I had a rough running condition and replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. When I tried to shoot my timing the light only worked intermittently and I couldn't understand why. I had a bad ICM, the module under the ignition rotor. I replaced the module and set the timing and all is good. I had read someplace that if all your other components check out and your light won't "flash" consistently, it's probably your ignition control module. This timing light is excellent value for the money.

Q: Will the timing light work on 6 volt automotive system?

A: This timing light will work on 6 volt system. The only way to make it work is use a separate 12volt supply to power the timing light. As the other connections will be the same. As for the code reader I am not sure what is the part number but if it does not have obd1 hook ups that means you cannot use it on obd1 vehicles.

A: Unfortunately this model will not work on 2 stroke engine. The 3551 Timing light does not support 2 cycle/stroke engines. Our 5568 timing light will work on 2 cycle/stroke engines.
