Husqvarna what happened? 240 worst saw ever.

If I've ran this saw 5 hours total in 6 years I would be surprised. I've probably spent twice that trying to get it started and fiddling with the idle settings. It wouldn't start at all last year (2022), so I put it on the shelf and hauled out my corded electric saw to do some limbing. Wow. This year I didn't even try and start it. Took it in for a 'tune up' as finally fed up. They replaced the carb. What? It's 'brand new' hour wise. I actually would feel bad selling it to someone for 50 bucks. I had a Husky Rancher 455 for 7 years. Best saw EVER. Always started even after sitting for months. I used it for 100's of hours when we were still burning wood. Never had a minutes trouble with it. Biggest mistake I made was selling it after we moved. I should have kept it. The Rancher was why I bought the 240. Obviously a completely different set of engineers worked on the Rancher vs. the 240. Do not buy new or used. You'll regret it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Very Frustrating Chainsaw

Got this saw as a gift about 3 years ago. First one didn't start right out of the box, so returned it for a replacement. Replacement saw was exactly the same. Had to pull it continuously in order to get it to start. This happens randomly whether it's cold start or still warm (ie after re-fueling). By the time it's started I'm so fatigued and frustrated I no longer want to do the work. Just this week I used it for the first time this season. Started with fresh newly mixed fuel. Cut one tree. Had to re-fuel which took only a couple minutes. With the engine still warm I pulled and pulled and pulled and it would not start. Many others here seem to be blaming this on operator error. The Echo gas trimmer I own starts up after two pulls consistently. My Toro gas lawn mower starts up first pull. My Honda cultivator starts up first pull. All these tools are much older than this chainsaw. A chainsaw is not a uniquely magical piece of technology that requires specialized care. This saw is, simply put, a cheap, box store piece of junk. If you're the type who likes to tinker with a saw and spend more time maintaining one than you will cutting with it then this is the saw for you. But if you're like me and want a saw a couple times a year and want it to actually work then I DO NOT recommend this saw. I can't wait to trade it in for a Stihl.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Suitable for light duty backyard cutting

If you asked me to describe my Husqvarna 240 in just a couple of words, “problem child” comes to mind. My 240 e-series tends to be finicky about how I start it (it floods easily) and the self mis-adjusting carburetor wants frequent attention. That said, once I figured out how it likes to be coaxed into firing up, and, how to keep the carburetor adjusted, it's been pretty reliable. It's a small saw, and while it's possible to push it through 12-inch oak logs, it's not meant for that kind of work. It's got plenty of power for limbing and bucking small firewood logs but leave the larger stuff to one of the 240's big brothers. If you decide to buy one, follow the starting instructions carefully and don't over prime or flood it. You'll also want to buy the special splined tool you need to adjust the L and H adjuster screws on the carburetor and learn how to tune it. There are lot's of video instructions on YouTube.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very light duty

I’ve fought this chainsaw for several years now, and I guess it’s time to give my opinion. It’s far too much work to keep it running for the little bit of work I get out of it. I use this chainsaw 1 or 2 times a year for trimming the dozen-or-so trees on my property. It’s always tough to start, and an absolute nightmare to start when it’s been running. I’ve had it serviced and tuned up a couple of times so I could get some work out of it. Overall, I should’ve gone bigger. This one is just not enough for little bit I ask of it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Broken when purchased.

I purchased my chainsaw a couple of years ago. I needed it when a tree fell across the driveway during a storm. It wouldn't start. Had to use my 30 year-old stihl. Took it back. need a carburator. Used it one time. Took about 30 pulls to start. Needed it again, wouldn't start. Took to dealer. Needed a new choke switch. Used it once. Next time wouldn't start. Needed another switch. Had to pay for two repairs and only used it twice. Junk.

No, I do not recommend this product.
