    It's a Cheap Grip

These sockets do grip quite well onto bolts and nuts, rusted or rounded off. However if the bolt or nut is seized and requires some additional elbow grease... You may find that grip give way, as the cheaper components of the socket snap under pressure. I do not recommend using these on anything thing bigger than a standard ratchet and definitely not on a power tool. Will be returning them this week.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: I need an 18mm socket for a 3/8" drive ratchet. Can I buy that singly, or in what set can I find that size?

    1 Answer
    • A: The 18mm socket is not sold individually. It is, however, included in a set currently carried by CTC. This is product # 58-2501 – the Grip-Tite 7-piece MM Set.

Q: I'm looking for a socket that is 1 inch or greater in diameter. I would be willing to buy it in a set if it was not too large a set or too expensive. I am looking for a tool to remove the anode bolt in my Motorhome's water heater. The bolt head is 1 inch in diameter. It is located behind a tube so I will need an extension and racket with a big enough drive to manage a 1 inch socket.

    • A: Based on the information you provided, the bolt head is “1 inch in diameter,” our best guess is that you need a 15/16” socket with a ½” drive for the job.  Reasoning is as follows:  - A 1 inch socket is not a common part.  - The closest common sockets to 1 inch are 15/16 and 1-1/8 inch.  15/16 is much closer to 1 inch than 1-1/8. - When you say “1 inch diameter,” we're unsure whether you are referring to the measurement across the flats of the bolt or across the corners.  The specs for a 15/16” bolt head are 0.938” across the flats and 1.05” across the corners.  - There are no standard metric sizes close to this.  We suggest you try using a MasterCraft branded socket.  Please contact your local Canadian Tire store for further assistance.
