    Does NOT detect NATURAL GAS

We could clearly smell the natural gas coming from our furnace. This device did not detect anything. We’ve had a professional confirm the natural gas leak. This product is useless.

No, I do not recommend this product.

found a gas leak within minutes

I bought it to check fittings in our natural gas fireplace. Within 5 minutes I determined there was a leak, pinpoint the exact location of the leak and take corrective action. Well worth the money.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Gas Leak Detector

It is actually 0 star.Do not waste your time to purchase it, and then go back to store to return it. To test it I warmed it up in fresh outside air, when ready took it back home to test it. I turned gas stove burner on and blew flame off. I kept detector for at least one minute over the burner and it didn't do anything. Whole kitchen stinks like gas. I don't need detector to tell me that, and this thing does still nothing. After few times trying I gave up and went back to store to return it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: How good at pinpointing exact spot of leak? Does it indicate the amount of gas detected? How good is this at pinpointing the exact spot of a leak (for example, which seal is leaking on a furnace gas controller), or is it only good enough to indicate there is gas somewhere in the area?

    1 Answer
    • A: Gas levels are detected at the tip of the unit. It has two detection ranges: Low Alarm Level - Between (20+/-5)% LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) and (50+/-10)% LEL High Alarm Level - Greater than (50+/-10)% LEL The unit does not have a meter showing increasing or decreasing LEL levels therefore pin pointing the exact leak among several fittings located very close together would be difficult.
