RH reading is very misleading

Unit works well, but after a week on Auto and dumping many buckets of water, the unit still reads 65%. I bought a separate RH reader that indicates the room humidity is actually 45%. This seems a huge gap, and while I don't expect precision, the reading on the unit is very misleading.

Picked this up during sale for $150 plus tax. Had it running over the weekend. Could not believe the amount of water it collected in bucket. Using it mainly for bedroom in condo (900 sq feet). Unit is small enough where it's not an eye sore and design is sleek. Liked that it has handle and on casters for easy mobility. The reusable filter is also a plus although a bit tricky to reinsert after removing. Wasn't sure since many previous reviews complained about the loudness when unit is operating. Found it was not any louder then if one had the bathroom fan or range hood turned on. Overall, happy with purchase so far.

Great buy and Quiet!

Just bought this Garrison 28 pt capacity unit on sale. It works well. The only complaint would be the humidity gauge isn't calibrated properly. It actually reads about 11 points higher than actual RH. As for those complaints about fan noise, this unit is MUCH quieter than my old Mastercraft D28 which is over 20 years old....like comparing a turbofan engine to a piston engine aircraft!

Impressed with how well this works

Bought this on sale and was surprised at how well it sucked the moisture out of the air. My windows were always wet,, very high humidity in my house, and it dried them up in no time. It is a little loud but really no worse than my overhead range fan. I only run it for a few hours each day. Definitely worth it for me!

A: Adjust your attitude about the noise and remember you bought this unit to reduce humidity which means more comfort. The air needs to flow into the unit to sense the moisture content. If it is off there is no detection. It is not like using at thermometer to detect temperature. Humidity is "moisture in the air" and the air must flow past the internal sensors to detect the moisure level. The speed of the fan is intended to cover a large area for a small size and price. You choose from the available Q&A

Q: What is the energy factor (L/kwh) of this unit? Energy Star dehumidifiers all have an energy factor. It measures the L of water removed from air with respect to KWH used.
