Really take a big core out. You have to shake dirt from weed. Think a sharper more clinical cut would be better

It does remove the weed but....

Yes, it does remove the weed with the root and everything else. It creates a big hole about 3cm but you could leave it or fill it back in. A) If you remove the core completely off the tool, you could separate the weed out and leave the remaining dirt and grass on the surface; core aeration. Leaving hole for nature to fill in or backfill with new soil, also add some grass seed. Also, you can push the dirt and grass back in from the surface but you will lose some dirt along the way. B) Me after removing 7 cores in, you find something helpful. Instead of removing the whole core, you could pull it out about halfway or more, separate out the weed and while the tool is halfway in you can push the soil and grass back into the hole. Depending on your grass and soil condition, you could leave the hole or backfill it in with same soil or new soil and even grass seeds, and yes, after doing this my forearm hurts because of the twisting of the tool to create the plug.

Great for getting more of the taproot out than other weeder I had. However due to our lawn being like clay..very hard to get the bits of mud out with the weed and the screws for the handle came out a couple days after using. Im constantly having to re tighten them before they fall out and get lost in the grass
