The mounting hardware is designed only for concrete or brick walls. The mounting points are fixed at the edges, so there is no flexibility how the unit is aligned to the wall, and the unit cannot take much weight. However my wife really liked the look, so I got a piece of wood and mounted that into my studs just fine. Then I attached this units mounting hardware into that piece of wood. Hacky, but it works.

Be careful

Be very careful about buying this. The hanging hardware that they give for use with the product is designed and intended only for cement or specifically designed backing in the wall. If you have a standard wall, it's basically impossible to hang this. Otherwise a very nice piece of storage hardware.

Q: Is there a way to hang this unit in a wall that's not concrete or brick? The instructions say to hang in in a brick or concrete wall. Is there a way to hang this in other walls? Ie. In a wall stud?

A: The Lyndon Hanging Rack can be anchored to a regular drywall wall also. The wall anchor functions so you don’t have to secure it to a stud, however….if the alignment works for you to position it so you CAN secure it to a stud…that is always better.
