Decent lights for the price

I bought 2 sets of candy cane lights to add to my existing older set. They are easy to install but if the ground is too hard the stakes break quite easily. They look fine but compared to my older lights they are not as bright and red. Decent for the price I paid but I definitely prefer the look of my older lights.

Q: Are there replacement stakes for these or at least some sort of warranty? The stakes break really easily

A: Really annoying, I know. My solution: 1. Buy a bag of bamboo garden stakes (e.g. Quest Select Bamboo Home & Garden Plant Stake, Heavy-Duty, Assorted, 6-pk #059-4779-6). 2. Cut one in half, and carefully feed the stake into the bottom of the cane (it's not THAT hard; you just push the little panel out of the way and feed the stake past the first few light bulbs) to confirm that you can feed the stake in about half of the depth. 3. Based off the cane spacing on the electrical wires, stick the stake into the ground. Considering the bamboo "half-stakes" are longer and stronger than the originals, I used a mallet to drive mine in, and then put the cane on. 4. Enjoy not having to wait in line at CT customer service to exchange your beloved canes just to replace their not-kid-proof plastic stakes! Merry Christmas! (-8

Q: If one bulb goes on these does the whole string go out? I have to sets currently not working.

A: Thanks for reaching out! The light set was built on a series circuit. This means when one bulb goes out, the entire circuit is impacted and does not stay lit.

Q: What kind of prong do these need on an extension cord? I bought and my NOMA 16 gauge one doesn’t fit into the plugs on the candy cane.

A: The cheaper outdoor extension cords don’t allow for grounding or different sizes prongs. I would think any three pronged one will likely do. You need to see that it can accommodate a smaller and large prong and it will work.
