Today's Fluorescent lighting is not as reliable as they use to be. The ballasts burn out quickly & are nearly the same price as the whole fixture. The bulbs don't last long either. I have 2 in my garage, installed 1.5 years ago. One has a burned out ballast & the other the bulbs are black on the ends. Wouldn't but another of these and can't recommend them.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Cheap Ballast
The fixture looks very nice, but it is over priced for what you receive. I purchased nine of these for my garage and one ballast failed directly out of the box, then two more ballast failed within two months of operation. The ballasts are not cheap to replace. Also I would change the placement of the power cord and the pull switch so as to allow for direct enter into either end of the fixture. Hence you could daisy chain the fixtures together. The power cord and switch could come off the sides of the fixture.
You can buy better, but you can't pay more. HA, HA.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Nice light no parts

Nice light works good, just came with no chains nor mounting hardware as stated on the box. It was open and maybe someone took the parts. Probably a return so make sure it is complete.

Q: Can I use T40 bulbs? What's the risk?
I would like to use this light fixture for seed starting, but the full spectrum (sunshine) bulbs only seem to come in one type - T40.
Will the lights work if I use a T40? Is there any risk?

A: plants need a mix of the red and blue light spectrum to grow. if you use 1/2 cool bulbs and half warm bulbs it will do well. I used this to grow orchids using this set up a few years ago.

Q: for shop lighting, 16' white metal cieling, what fixtures are the best choice? Wraparound lenses, open bulb strip, or suspended with reflector?
looking for best compromise between ease of maintenance and lighting efficiency.
Also, how many 2 bulb fixtures would be reccomended in 32'*40' area?

1 Answer
A: Using a suspended light with a reflector will achieve the best light. Every application can be different. As far as a # to put in a room this size, it depends on what you want to do in the room and the actual amount of light required.

Q: Is this light good for recessing into ceilings, and is it good for cold weather ie. unheated garages?
1 Answer
A: No problem recessing this fixutre into a ceiling. The amount of light given off by the bulbs will be the same, but the coverage will decrease, depending on the height it is recessed. The fixture is rated for cold weather start up. s cold as 17 degree C, the fixture should light without a problem.
