      Amazing Results but finicky initialization

Fix It Pro delivers perfect results on scratches in the clear coat layer, but you need to be careful to initialize the tool properly. The instructions say to press the fiber tool-tip repeatedly on a hard surface to initialize it, ie to soak the tip (which is initially dry) with the fluid from inside the pen. I found that "repeatedly" meant, with mine, about 50 times before the end of the tip was visibly wet with the repair fluid. (I suspect the other reveiwer here may have got poor-to-no results because he/she did not actually get fluid flowing from the reservoir inside the pen) Once you get past that initial process, have a paper towel or a piece of cotton fabric (not too fuzzy, think T-shirt material, not flannel) handy, folded neatly so as to provide a smooth flat wiping surface. Now, run the wet tip along the scratch-- if the scratch is really only into the clear coat, the white scratch will immediately disappear (the white will become clear again) but you will see a bit of excess solution up on the adjacent clear coat. Now rub the towell lightly and rapidly across (perpendicular to) the scratch... the excess fluid will be wiped away leaving the scratch filled in and clear. You will not be able to find tell where the scratch was. Invisible! Magic! This works best on actual scratches (ie where there is a microscopic "canyon" or crevice for the repair fluid to fill) but I quickly developed a decent technique for similarly turning abrasions (where the clear coat is scuffed white on the surface but there is no actual scratch) back into crystal clear again... in this case, don't wipe with the towel afterwards, just paint the fluid on to the scuffed area and then lightly feather the fluid around the edges so it blends into the adjacent finish without a ridge). If you mess up or put the stuff on too thick and runny, just wipe it off and try again. Do all this in the shade. When you're finished, the repaired areas will still be wet, slightly oily. Park the vehicle in the sun for several hours (up to 48 hours according to the package, in my case it took about 8) as the product is cured or hardened by UV rays. During this hardening process don't expose the repair area to water, or go driving on dusty roads. I suggest removing the tool tip (just pull it out) and drying the excess fluid off it by rulling between layers of a towell, so it won't be all gummy the next time you want to use it. Then gently place the now-dry tip back in the pen and store the pen, tip-up, in a cool dark place until the next scratch... I used this on bright red and dark green vehicles, with really excellent results. No rubbing or sanding or buffing and very forgiving application... if you mess up, just wipe it off and try again. If the scratch goes down into the coloured base coat this product will NOT do any good... in that case you need to first replenish the colour that is missing... this (clear) product cannot do that. By the way, this product seems to work fine even if the car was previously waxed... I did NOT remove the wax before doing the touchup, and had no problem. I've tried NuFinish Scratch Doctor and various clear coat rubbing compounds... this product delivers superior results on clear coat scratches, more quickly and safely and with far less effort and virtually no elbow-grease, and unlike rubbing and buffing, it does not make your clear coat thinner.

      Yes, I recommend this product.

      Not worth it

Purchased this after reading the mixed reviews on other sites and my car had a long light scratch so i thought it should work. After laboring for 3 days and passing this pen as instructed, i can say the scratch is still there. Don't waste your money on this. Will try to return it for refund at Candaian tire as they said if it did not work, they would return me my money. Will probably try the Quixx scratch remover next.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: does it work on scratched glasses

      • A: Fix it Pro is to be used on Paint surfaces only, we would recommend against using the liquid on eye glasses.
