    Wonderful For Generator

After buying an adapter and proper extension cord, this was great for hooking our generator to the house. Six receptacles on inside wall to use. It is pretty simple to install through the wall.

    Not approved by ESA

My electrician told me not to use this product, or other versions like it, because it is not approved by Electrical Safety Authority of Ontario, and that you would not pass an inspection or be able to close a permit with this installed. Not sure why they sell these at all. He also told me there could be insurance issues too.

The only drawback to the installation was the knockout.

The stamping was not deep enough. I had to drill it out using a 7/8” bit . Installed 2 of these . Both had the same issue.

Q: Is this product csa approved?

    • A: There is a sticker on the outdoor box. There is a circle with ETL in the middle and listed at the bottom. There is a C and a US on the outside of the circle. Below that it says Intertek and the listing number is 3126867. Below that it says CONFORMS TO ULSTD.498. On the next line it says CERTIFIED TO CSA STD.C22.2#42. I am not an engineer but simply an end-user. I cannot figure out how to attach a photo to this response, sorry.

Q: My generator has 2 x 120v 15-20 outlets and a 30 AMP RV outlet. Can I connect my generator to the inlet box in this kits if I don't have a 30 amp L14-30 outlet ? What kind of cable or adapter would I need?

    3 Answers
    • A: Depending on your generators RV outlet, the adapter you need is either a TT-30 to L14-30 OR a L5-30 to L14-30. Either are available as a plug or a short cord adapter, myself I prefer the short cord (dogbone) adapters. The previous answer is wrong, YES you will now be able to use all 6 of the available 120v outlets inside the building.

Q: How long is the conduit as would have to be the same length as the basement thickness

    3 Answers
    • A: Plenty long enough for any normal wall thickness; but my advice is, No Glue on pipes; not really required, and if you make a mistake with glue you have a problem. If desired you can buy extra conduit length just in case you make a mistake cutting[ Measure twice, cut once).

Q: How do you get the plug out of the metal box to put the wires through. It is solid.

    • A: Hello, We can certainly assist you with this matter. Please visit our website - https://www.energizergenerators.com/ca/download-manual Please click on - Through Wall Kit - Through Wall Kit User Guide Refer to page 16 1. Remove the screw below the plastic inlet port on the metal outdoor inlet box and lift the metal faceplate up and out. Place the base of the inlet box face down on a solid surface so that the back of the box with three mounting holes is facing upwards. 2.Locate the circular knockout hole on the back of the inlet box, remove the knockout using a knockout punch set or a drill. 3. Unscrew the tightening ring from the PVC conduit fitting, leaving the insulating ring on the fitting. 4. From the back of the inlet box push the threaded end of the conduit fitting through the knockout hole. Screw the tightening ring onto the conduit fitting from the inside of the power inlet box and tighten using pliers. We hope this information helps. Q: Are you limited to the size of generator? ie: 10,000 watts

    1 Answer
    • A: The maximum power this kit can throughput is 7,500-Watts because the maximum rated power that a L14-30 outlet can provide is 30 Amps at 250 Volts. (30A x 250V = 7500W). This kit will only provide as much power as your generator supplies, if your generator supplies less than 7,500W through its L14-30 outlet this kit will be underpowered but still function normally. If your generator can only produce 110-125V through its L14-30 outlet then only the top or bottom half of the outlets on this kit will provide power, but that half will still function normally.

Q: What about a nutral ??? We don't have the place wher we put it !!

    1 Answer
    • A: The neutral (white wire) inside the through-wall kit connects the indoor 6-outlet power panel to the outdoor inlet box. That connection ensures a safe neutral continuity from the through-wall kit, through your L14-30 extension cord, and back to your portable generator. To safely use the through wall kit the outlet on your portable generator must be grounded and include a breaker of 30A or less.

Q: On page 7 of the instructions it says I can choose another location to install my inside power panel. What gauge of wire would I use. 12 or 10 gauge?

    1 Answer
    • A: Hello Eddy, We recommend you use 10 gauge wiring since the wall kit supports up to 30A. 12 gauge wiring is only rated up to 20A whilst 10 gauge is rated up to 30A. Hope this helps and has answered your question. Cheers!
