I am very happy with the product, however was disappointed to realize once I got home that if I had accepted an offer on my triangle rewards app for 5x Canadian Tire money if I bought a motomaster battery. I think that should have automatically been applied.

Q: 2012 Audi Q5 with a 3.2 L.I need to replace the OEM VARTA AGM battery in the car. Has the 92 Ah 520A DIN 860A.VARTA batteries have the BEM CODE which is needed to code the new battery. ELIMINATOR do not have them. What can I use for the BEM codes?

  • A: To code an aftermarket MotoMaster battery into an Audi Battery Energy Management (BEM) system using VCDS or OBDeleven, you need a 26-character string. Since MotoMaster doesn't provide a BEM sticker, you can use these verified factory part numbers alongside a generic Varta vendor code (VA0) and a dummy serial number.Find the line below that matches your battery's Amp Hours (Ah) and chemistry type, and copy/paste it exactly as written:70 Ah Conventional:8K0915105C VA0 123456789080 Ah Conventional:8K0915105D VA0 1234567890110 Ah Conventional:8K0915105F VA0 123456789070 Ah EFB:5TA915105B VA0 123456789092 Ah AGM:4F0915105E VA0 1234567890105 Ah AGM:7P0915105D VA0 1234567890(Note: There are intentional double-spaces after the shorter part numbers to satisfy Audi's strict 11-digit part number layout constraint. If your scanner throws an error, change the last digit of the serial number from 0 to 1 to force the computer to register it as a brand-new battery block.)

Q: Do these ever go on sale? If so how much does the price drop? I need a new battery soon but want to know if its worth waiting for it to go on sale.

  • A: On sale now, don't expect the huge discounts they have on some other products 10-15% is good especially since the price is lower than the regular retail (Exide Edge) and offer a longer warranty and lower core charge.

  • A: This group 35 battery label says 780 CA at zero degrees Celsius and 650 CCA at -18 Celsius. This is the only Motomaster battery I've seen with CCA rating at -18 Celsius.

Q: Does this battery come fully charged?

  • A: Yes it does. A quick top up with your battery charger never hurts but if you in an on-the-side-of-the-road situation it’ll work just fine.

Q: Do I need to charge before install

2 Answers
  • A: Always check that a battery has full charge before installing, i.e. 12,75 v; the charging system charges at a rate of 13.8 to 14.2; newer cars charge to 15.5 before backing off because they have so many more electric and electronic features; when the engine is shut off, the charge drops to 13.2 - 13.5, basically 1 volt below the values you can see when the engine is running; it will then subside to 12.75, and whereas a new battery should hold that value, old ones will drop to 12.2; below that, you should keep a floating charge on it overnight; car systems no longer completely shut off, as the computer needs power to stay on stand-by, and alarm systems can be quite hungry; ok if you use the vehicle everyday, but acquire a lithium booster, e.g. the MotoMaster Eliminator XB15 Lithium Booster Pack/Jump Starter & USB Power Bank, 1500A. This is not a shill for the booster; but just that if left for weeks at a time, you might need this; While AGMs are known for being especially resistant, they are not immune to long periods of idleness while being drained by alarm systems etc. here, a float charger is a cheap way to top up and good models can be had for less than $20, but you have to remember to hook them up. However, I would not buy anything other than an AGM (my last one lasted 10.5 years, and I totally drained it at least 6 times. I replaced it with another last year. Using a big charger means that you should disconnect the ground to protect the 5 v dashboard circuits in case there is a flaw in the system to avoid damage to your gauges &al; new chargers can diagnose, battery, charge system, or starter issues within minutes of being hooked up (MotoMaster Eliminator Workshop Series Smart Battery Charger, Fully Automatic, 15/3-Amp, 6V/12V,#011-1978-2) ALWAYS READ INSTRUCTIONS FIRST. I have the booster and the charger as well as a float charger (belt and suspenders) as I am a retired mechanic and DIYer for myself and close friends.
