I just got my daughter's Dyson d46..she was throwing it out .

So far I have taken it apart and cleaned so well , but I still smell her dog when I use it , so removed the filters and they were filthy , so washed them but the big one did not come clean at all ..So now I'm looking for a new filter for it .. can't wait to use it.

Instances may sometimes occur when the filter on the vacuum may catch a smell of what is being vacuumed. Sometimes smells can occur if the filter is left wet or damp and put back into the vacuum too soon. The cyclone can be another source of trapped odors within your vacuum.

messy to empty container

I bought this vacuum this summer based on the reviews. I used to like vacuuming but now I dread it. It is so messy to empty the cannister AND you are supposed to clean it once a month. I have to pull the dusty crud out and I had to buy a mask to wear while doing it. Just gross! Also this vacuum will not vacuum carpets with the main head because it wiggles around. There should be a lock for it. Vacuuming takes twice as long as I have to keep changing the heads. I don't think it vacuums any better than other vacuums. The only good thing about it is the swivelling head allows you to get into difficult spaces.

This is the most gutless Dyson power head I have EVER used!! They have gone downhill compared to previous models. This is just ok for floors. But doesn't do anything on carpets. It does not have enough power to continuously keep the beater bar going. What a waste of money.

Not worth the price tag

It feels flimsy, suction is moderate. The part that warrants this rating? The beater bar. I had to vacuum on my hands and knees while holding the beater bar in the ON position. Otherwise, it flips off and won't clean carpet. I also don't appreciate having to clear the brush every time I use it in order for it to work. This time, cutting hair and clearing it didn't even work.

No, I do not recommend this product.
