Alot darker than previous batch.

Have been buying this product for the last few years. We use it on our rebuilt transmissions. Perfect colour until now. Definite colour change in new batch. Not happy at all. Doesn't coat aswell as previously. Different smell and seems thinner.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can this be used for painting steering spindle knuckles?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for taking the time to contact Dupli-Color. Yes, you can use Engine Enamel on steering spindle knuckles. The surface should be cleaned, sanded to a dull textured feeling, and dust is removed. If you have any other questions, please contact us directly at 1-800-247-3270 or info@cbgbrandreview.com. Q: Is it possible to get this in Ford's Dark Highland Green? Dupli-Colour makes the touch up pen, so I am hoping it is available in high heat spray paint as well. Thank you kindly.

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we do not have touch up paint in our Engine Enamel. The Perfect Match Paint and All in One Touch Up Pen are not high heat and should not be used on an engine. Regards, Linda @ Dupli-Color Customer Support

Q: Would this be suitable for brake calipers also? I am having a hard time finding a color match to this in a brake caliper paint. Another thing, the can recommends using the engine primer. None on store or online. Where can I get some?

1 Answer
  • A: Engine Enamel would not hold up very well on calipers. Caliper paint is resistant to brake dust and is much better suited on calipers. It does not require a primer and can be applied directly to a clean, dull, profiled caliper.

Q: I am looking to use the clear coat on my brake calipers. Will this work ? Thanks

1 Answer
  • A: If the caliper clear is applied directly to metal it tends to yellow. We typically do not recommend

Q: Does this paint need to be baked?

1 Answer
  • A: This product will self cure on the engine as it runs so it does not need to be baked.

Q: Do you have to use a primer on the engine first. Thanks

1 Answer
  • A: A primer is not necessarily required with the Engine Enamel. A scuff sand of the bare metal with 220 grit sand paper and a wipe down with the Grease and Wax Remover would be sufficient prep for adhesion.
