Very difficult to apply

A "DAP product expert" responds to a complaint about the unstickiness of the product with: "Based on your commentary, it would appear that you may have purchased aged product (newly purchased may not necessarily be of recent manufacture). As the product ages, it will thicken to the point of becoming difficult or impractical to use. " How is the consumer supposed to know how old the tube is upon purchase? Mine has the following numbers on the bottom of the tube: 15051996 0002967318 26110 Of what use is this to know how old the product is, and how new should it be to work at its best? It resulted in a lot of difficulty and aggravation applying it.

The numbers on the bottom of the tube are batch and manufacturing codes used for product tracking. They are not always easy to interpret without support, which is why we encourage consumers to contact customer service should they have concerns about freshness or product performance. While the product may still be within its shelf life, factors such as age and storage conditions can affect how easily it applies. If you should encounter product that was sold in unusable condition, the product should be returned to the point of purchase (DAP will issue a credit to the retailer for the returned item) or alternately, the product (with proof of purchase) can be returned directly to DAP for a refund of your purchase price.
